Springwood, created at the 1985 redistribution, is located in Logan City to the east of the M1 Motorway. It extends from Rochedale South in the north through Springwood, Daisy Hill and Shailer Park to the Logan River. Springwood has 32,049 registered voters.

According to Electoral Commission Queensland, the Springwood electorate has a total of 15,560 male voters and 16,489 female voters.
Demographic information from the 2006 Census showed a majority of the electorate's population was aged between 45 and 54 years, with 5-14 year olds not far behind in the statistics.
